Dragon Ball Trailer

Word is the first trailer for Fox's live action Dragon Ball film will premier with Max Payne on Oct 17th. I'm hoping this film is good, and until I see the trailer I'm not going to judge the movie over all. But from the few still shots I've seen, I have to say I have issue with Chow Yun Fat's Master Roshi. I mean he has no beard, no turtle shell, and he's not bald!! Are you looking forward to the Dragon Ball movie?

My Collection part 6

Hurricane Gustav is due to hit the coast of Louisiana on Monday, so it's been busy where I work with people buying batteries, flashlights, water, and other storm necessities. I live in the north-east part of Louisiana, but we're still expecting to get a lot of bad weather. A lot of people have been coming up from down south to avoid the brunt of the hurricane, and I hope the people who decide to stay and tough it out are ok.

More after the jump...

A Haurhi gashapon figure standing in front of "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" Vol 1 Collectors box, which also came with a Haruhi~ism iron-on, pencil board, Cosplay hairband, and the Hare Hare Yukai CD.

Here are the other 3 figures from this gashapon set Santa Kyon, Reindeer Mikuru, and Yuki. This was my second set of gashapon figures. Because of that, I wasn't familiar with the leaning problems some figures have, so I didn't use the supports that came with them. Then one day I heard a crash and looked over to see Yuki had decided to take a nose dive off the top of my bookshelf. After bending her legs back into place I put the supports on each figure.

Yangus from Dragon Quest 8. I bought him because Suncoast Video was going out of business, and they had their merchandise 50% or more off. I had also bought a Chi wall scroll, but it's still the package, because I didn't have the wall space to hang it. Dragon Quest is the reason I enjoy playing RPG video games. It was the very first RPG I play back on the NES. It was called Dragon Warrior in the US. After that Final Fantasy came out, and I've been hooked on RPG's ever since. What was the first RPG you ever played?

Minas Tirith, this came with the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King Collector's Edition. The city lifts up from the base to reveal a storage compartment. The Hobbit, and the Lord of the Rings are some of my favorite books, and Peter Jackson did an outstanding job with the movie adaptations of Lord of the Rings. Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth), is supposed to be directing 2 Hobbit films, with Peter Jackson Producing. Only the first movie is going to be based on the Hobbit though. The second is going to an orginal story. You can get more info about The Hobbit film over at Ain't It Cool News.

This is uncut sheet of chase cards from one of the Star Wars Trading Card sets, but I forgot which set. Normally these would be 6 individual cards you would randomly get in a pack of cards. I got the uncut sheet from QVC during one of their Star Wars specials, along with a version of the Star Wars 20th Anniversary Magazine that was exclusive to QVC. I'd post a pic of the magazine as well, but it's boxed up at the moment. You can see the normal edition of the magazine here http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Empire_Star_Wars_20th_Anniversary_bonus_mag. The Star Wars lettering of the QVC edition were red foil.

The other items in the first pic of this post is a picture of me from the Star Wars attraction at Disney Studios Theme Park, and the other is a 12" C-3PO, with removable limbs and book collectors set. Well that's all for this post. It's late and I have to work an open to close shift tomorrow at work. I dread going with it being the day before Labor Day, but I can look forward to being off Monday!

My Collection part 5

This is one of 2 Burger King Return of the Jedi glasses I have. Behind is McFarlane's Dragons: Eternal Clan Dragons. That line has some really nice dragon figures, but this is the only I've bought. Anyone else have any of the Dragons figures?

More after the jump.

The second my Burger King Return of the Jedi glasses, and the Toynami Robotech Masterpiece Collection Vol 1: Rick Hunter's VF-1J. Robotech was one of the first anime I ever saw, and it's one of my favorites. I still need to get the DVD's for "The Macross Saga" and "Masters" though. What was the first anime you ever watched?

More Negima figures. Asuna, Konoka, and Ako Gashapons. This set also includes Yue and Nodoka figures, but I haven't been able to find them sold by themselves. After I bought these 3 at least 3 auctions popped up on Ebay selling all 5 together, just my luck.

This is part of my collection of movie buttons. These are given out to employees at various stores for them to wear to advertise the release of a new movie on DVD. I used to work at K-Mart and got a ton of these. I have extras of some of them in anyone wants to trade a Yue and Nodoka from the set above for them. Heh. Well it's late so that it's for this post. I'll post more pictures tomorrow. Look forward to them!

Death Note 2 in Theaters

Viz Pictures has announced that Oct 15th & 16th will be the release dates for the theatrical screenings of Death Note 2: The Last Name. There will be one show each night at participating theaters at 7:30pm. When I went to see the first movie at the theater here half the audience kept making comments on the acting, and other things during the film, which was very annoying. I might go and see this one on the second night instead of the first to avoid ending up in the same audience as those people again. Have you ever been to a movie where people kept shouting out comments during the film?

Visit the Death Note 2: The Last Name Official Site for more details.

Lucky Star OVA Trailer

The official Lucky Star OVA website has posted a short teaser trailer. The new OVA is scheduled for release on Sept 26. Lucky Star is one of my favorite series. I bought the 2 limited edition DVD sets out so far, and have the 3rd volume pre-ordered. And I can't wait until the manga is released in English.

My favorite character is Konota, since she's a lot like me. She watches anime, reads manga, and plays video game. What more could you ask for?

Who is your favorite Lucky Star character?

YouTube Tuesday - Pizza time

Well I was planning on ordering pizza from my favorite local place for dinner tonight, but found out they had gone out of business. It was actually just a gas station that made pizza also, but it was the better than the big name places like Pizza Hut, and Johnny's Pizza. They always gave you some pepperoncini peppers, and garlic butter dipping sauce, although they started charging for the garlic butter last year. I'm really bummed about this, because now I need to find a new regular pizza place. If you live in West Monroe, LA and know a good pizza place besides Johnny's, Pizza Hut, or Domino's let me know, and I'll try it out. Have you ever had a favorite food place go out of business?

In honor of my favorite pizza place this weeks YouTube video is a pizza commercial from Japan. Enjoy!

Free Gas in Los Angeles

On August 29th 2008 at 6AM Pandemic Studios and Electronic Arts will be taking over a gas station in Los Angeles and giving away free gas (while supply lasts) in celebration of the launch of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. The gas station will be decked out in Mercenaries 2 logos, and even feature attendants dressed as mercenaries.

I don't live in or even near Los Angeles, but thought I would help spread the word, for anyone interested in a free tank of gas who does live in that part of the country.

EDIT: Did some digging for a location and according to Los Angeles Times Blog the event will be at 8480 Beverly Blvd. They also mention that the limit for the event will be 3 hours or 1000 gallons, which ever comes first.

Bionic Commando Footage

Capcom has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming Bionic Commando game, due out in 2009 for the PC, PS3, and XBox 360.

I loved the original Bionic Commando for the NES. Having to swing from ledge to ledge instead of jumping was such a cool concept back then. From the trailer it looks like this game will be just as awesome as the original. Did you play the original NES Bionic Commando? Did you love it or hate it? Are you looking forward to the new one?

Apple replacing exploding Nanos

After several reports of first-generation Ipod Nanos smoking and giving off sparks, Apple has decided to offer a replacement plan.

The company issued a statement Tuesday concerning the exploding Nanos.

"Apple has determined that in very rare cases batteries in first generation iPod nanos sold between September 2005 and December 2006 can overheat causing failure and deformation of the iPod nano. Apple has received very few reports of such incidents (less than 0.001 percent of first generation iPod nano units), which have been traced back to a single battery supplier. There have been no reports of serious injuries or property damage, and no reports of incidents for any other iPod nano model.

Any first generation iPod nano customers who have experienced their battery overheating should contact AppleCare for a replacement. Any other customers who have concerns about their first generation iPod nano battery should also contact AppleCare."

Do you own a first generation Nano, and if you do have you had any problems with it?

My Collection part 4

First post with my new camera, hope you enjoy the pictures better. It's an Aiptek iCam 2.4" LCD. Close up pictures are still slightly fuzzy, but it's a vast improvement over using my webcam. And the fuzziness could just be from me trying to hold the camera still while it takes the photo. Anyway on to the figures.

More after the jump...

This is my Star Wars Bo'Marr monk. It was a send off figure from some breakfast cereal. The Bo'Marr monks are the rightful occupants of Jabba's Palace, and you see one briefly in Return of the Jedi. As peaceful monks seeking enlightenment they simple ignore Jabba's presence in their monastery.

Haseo from .hack//G.U. and .hack//ROOTS This Haseo figure came with the collectors edition of the .hack//G.U. vol 1 PS2 game. I'd really like to see some figures of Pi, Atoli, and Shino. Especially Pi.

Dirty thoughts are very bad! Mahoro here is from the Mahoromatic: Summer Special with art box to hold the entire Mahoromatic series. I really loved this series, except for the end. The end really sucked. Did anyone else hate the ending to this series?

Well that's it for this collection post. The other items on the shelf in the first picture is a little Spider-man figure I found at work, and a Disneyland Candle when I went there a few years ago. I'll be going back and updating my previous collection posts with pictures taken with my new camera, so please look forward to them.

New Stargate Series

The SciFi Channel has green lit a new Stargate series for early next year. Titled Stargate: Universe, the new series will follow a band of explorers from Earth who end up on an Ancient spaceship called Destiny. The ship has a pre-programed mission forcing the team to come along for the ride with no way back to Earth.

More after the jump..

Here is a more detailed description of the new series.

From The Live Feed:
After unlocking the mystery of the Stargate's ninth chevron, a team of explorers travels to an unmanned starship called the Destiny, launched by The Ancients at the height of their civilization as a grand experiment set in motion, but never completed.

What starts as a simple reconnaissance turns into a never ending mission, as the Stargate Universe crew discovers the ship is unable to return to Earth, and they must now fend for themselves aboard the Destiny.
The crew will travel to the far reaches of the universe, connecting with each of the previously launched Stargates, thus fulfilling the Destiny's original mission.

Challenges will arise though as the ship comes into range of Stargates placed centuries ahead of the Destiny, but only for a brief period of time before carrying on with its pre-programmed navigational schedule. If someone is left behind, there is no way to go back for them, adding to the drama of encountering new races, enemies and adventures.

A 2-hour movie is set to air the first half of next year, with the series kicking off during the summer.

This is great news for Stargate fans coming on the heels of Stargate: Atlantis' cancellation. Hopefully the series is as good as it's predecessors and has a good run. Are you looking forward to this new series?

Stargate Atlantis Cancelled

The current season of Stargate: Atlantis will be it's final season on Sci-Fi. The series will end with a cliffhanger, and then like Stargate SG-1 have the conclusion released as a direct to DVD movie. Future direct to DVD movies will also be in the works.

I really enjoyed both Stargate series. I'm sad to see them off the air, but glad that they decided to tie up all the loose ends via the DVD movies. Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum both did a good job of wrapping up the Ori and Ba'al plot lines.

Are you upset about the series cancellation or happy?

My Collection part 3

Ok, time for part 3 of my collection photos. I hope you have been enjoying them so far. The Darth Vader and Yoda pictures hanging from the shelf, were ads for the Star Wars Special Edition video release. They were supposed to be hung on the shelf with the movies, but the store I worked at didn't use them so I got them. I'm hoping to have a better camera in the next couple of weeks. When I get it I'll go back and update these posts with better pictures.

More after the jump.

This is my Toynami Roy Focker "Last Stand" Veritech. This was an exclusive item you could only order from ToyFare Magazine.

This is R2-D2 from the Star Wars 12 inch scale line of figures. The Last Mimzy toy was handed out at the theater I went to see "The Last Mimzy" movie at. Did your theater give these out when you went to see the movie?

YouTube Tuesday

Was checking out some new YouTube videos and decided I would share some of my favorites. I think I will make this a weekly feature, so I hope you look forward to YouTube Tuesday's. Every Tuesday I will link one of my favorite videos, or any new ones I find that I think are good.

The first video I'd like to share is The Lord of the Yen. This video parodies the trailers for the Lord of the Ring movies using footage from Azu Manga Daioh

My Collection part 2

Well here is the second part of my figure collection posts. I would of posted something sooner, but I've spent a lot of my free time this past weekend figuring out how to get certain things to work on blogger. Making expandable posts for example. And they still don't work right, as it adds a "Read more!" link to the end of every post even if there is nothing more to read. Because of this I will be adding "END POST" to the end of any short posts, so you will know there is nothing else to read. I still haven't finished messing with the way I want things laid out, so if you visit the site and it looks weird it's just me trying to get something to work the way I want.

Here are the next figures from collection. Again sorry for the poor quality. I'm saving up for a real camera, but it will be a little while before I can get one. There are some Negima Figumates I have. 6 of them are from the limited edition DVDs, and the other 5 are the Negima! Vol 2 figure set. I have close up pictures of them after the jump.

Asuna, Ayaka, Makie, and Konoka

Asuna, Ayaka, Makie, and Konoka

Setsuna, Chacamaru (Maid), Chacamaru, and Evangeline

Evangeline, Kaede, and Yue

So who is your favorite Negima! girl? Mine is Nodoka. I like how she started out shy and unsure, and has slow become more outgoing and confident as the manga goes on. And the fact she looks a lot like Love Hina's Shinobu has nothing to do with it. :)

Sony wants you to steal their signs

Sony is making 1,000 yard sign sized billboards with working lights and ladders advertising their upcoming PS3 game LittleBigPlanet. They will be placing these signs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York, and are actually hoping people will steal them. Why would they want their signs stolen? Because they believe that the stolen signs that end up on Ebay will be great advertising for their game.

Do you think this is a good idea, or waste of money?

My Collection part 1

Decided the next few days I'd post some pics of some of my anime and figure collections. First up is a Skeith standee I won last year in the .hack Ultimate Fan Contest. I was one of 5 grand prize winners. Each winner got a random standee selected from 5 possible characters by the contest organizers. I was really hoping to get the Pi standee, but this one is pretty cool to.

For those who don't know Skeith is a character from the .hack PS2 games. In .hack//INFECTION he was a boss monster you had to defeat. In the second series of games .hack//G.U. you could become him to fight certain boss monsters. The art for the standee is based off the Skeith from .hack//G.U.

Got my first figma.

I just recently got into collecting anime figures, and decided to get some figmas. My first one came in a few weeks ago. I bought a Wonder Fest 2008 Konata Izumi cosplaying as Haruhi Suzumiya. She's a really nice figure. I just have a couple of problems with it. This first one is when trying to pose her arms her front hair always falls off. Saw several people mention this problem with the winter uniform Konata as well, so it's not unique to the Cosplay Konata. I think the problem may be due to her hair coming down right in front of the sholder joints making it easy to knock her hair off when moving the arms. The second problem with mine is the front and rear hair pieces are 2 different shades of blue, but I can over look that.

More after the jump.

I have 3 more figmas on order, Kagami and Tsukasa Hiiragi (Lucky Star), and Yuki Nagato with Witch Costume (The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya). Tsukasa is out this month, and Kagami and Yuki are scheduled to be released in Sept. All 3 can be reserved at Hobby Search or Kid Nemo (See side bar for links). Now here's a picture of Konata, and please excuse the picture quality as I only have a cheap webcam to take pictures with.

Konata is standing on a copy of Kasumi vol 1. I recieved this in the mail a few days ago out of no where. I didn't order the book it just showed up. I think I may of entered a contest where this was a prize, but don't remember where I entered. It was a nice surprise and is actually a pretty good book. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

If your curious what the book is about, it is about Kasumi, who is just transfering to an elite private school. On the way to her new home with her dad, they stop to explore a forest where she encounters these strange lights. A few days later she suddenly discovers she has the power to turn invisible when she holds her breath.

Wow, was just checking Right Stuf to get a link for anyone intrested in ordering the book, and it's not scheduled to come out untill Aug 26th. Guess I won a pre-release copy. Anyway, if your intrested in pre-ordering Kasumi, Right Stuff has it for pre-order for $8.21. Get it here!
