Bioshock 2

Been considering buying Bioshock 2 for awhile now. I had been planning on buying the collectors edition since Best Buy had it for 69.99, but I'm glad I kept putting it off. A couple weekends ago Amazon had a 1 day sale on the collectors edition, selling it for 39.99.

More after the jump.....

Removing the slip case for the box the collectors edition comes in reveals this butterfly painting made from hand prints.

Since the game takes place in 1968 the collectors edition comes with this vinyl 180g LP of the original Bioshock soundtrack.

It also comes with a pretty large art book. And the scrolls to the left are advertising posters like the ones you'll find around Rapture as you play the game. I haven't taken them out yet, but I believe they are supposed to have secret messages that show up under a black light.

The original soundtrack for Bioshock 2 is included, but unlike the Bioshock 1 soundtrack this one is on CD.

And of coarse it comes with the game. I really like the way they packaged this with everything nicely layered on top of each other.

And if your wondering why I included a picture of the empty box. It's because when I ordered Monster Hunter 3 Amazon crammed the game into a box that was not made for shipping something like MH3. I did complain about the packaging through their review options they present you with after ordering with them. And while I know this is just a coincidence, I thought it was kind of funny that the very next game they used a huge box with a bunch of airbags to ship it to me.

1/8 Scale Gift Saber

Last year I bought Terminator 2 on Blu-ray from Best Buy. It came with a $50.00 Sideshow Collectibles gift card. The cards can only be used on certain items which change every now and then. Up until recently the only figures listed that I was even remotely interested in were out of my price range even with the gift card.

A couple weeks ago, however, I was checking to see if they had updated the list and found the Gift Saber available. After the gift card she was only 39.99, so I ordered her.

More after the jump......

The figure is really well done and was sculpted by Satoshi Toda.

The only issues I had with the figure was the mirrored base was all scratched up, and the second head she comes with doesn't really look that great. But we'll get into that later.

I love the pose of this figure. The way Saber is standing there looking so regal with her skirt blowing in the wind looks awesome.

I recently finished playing through the Fate/Stay Night visual novel, and loved the story. I still need to watch the anime and read the manga though. If you can't read Japanese and want to play Fate/Stay Night there is a English patch made by Mirror Moon, and you can pick up a copy of Fate/Stay Night at J-List.

Now to the issue with the head. The design of the face is just terrible. The eyes look really weird, and the smile on Saber's face doesn't really fit with the feel of the figure over all.
